Groovy 1960s Lifesavers ad -- directed by Terry Gilliam?

Dangerous Minds speculates (I think correctly) that this cool ad is the handiwork or Monty Python's resident animator, Terry Gilliam.

Bond movies and much more now streaming via Netflix

I don't see these as available quite yet on Netflix, but they've been listed on Just Arrived on Streaming, which indicates that they'll be available soon.

This is the month when many classic CBS series (Twilight Zone, Hawaii Five-O, Star Trek, etc.) start to become available via streaming as part of a two-year deal between Netflix and the network.

I think I'm going to be watching fewer and fewer DVDs...

Just a glance at some of the fresh offerings:

Diamonds are Forever
You Only Live Twice
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Never Say Never Again
Thunderball
Moonraker
For Your Eyes' Only
License to Kill
Hawaii Five-O
Mission Impossible
Andy Griffith Show
Twin Peaks

DC heroines go "'all pants" in 2011

Occasional Superheroine has the scoop:

"This is 2011: bare legs just aren't cutting it anymore," one insider said. "There's nothing more practical (and modest) than fighting crime in a pair of slacks."

An art contest will be held to redesign the costumes of such classic DC superheroines as Supergirl, Zatanna, and Mary Marvel in a way that incorporates pants or at least a nice pair of jeggings.

Doctor Who's Karen Gillan to play 60s model Jean Shrimpton

Via the BBC:

The 23-year-old TV star will play sixties supermodel Jean Shrimpton in a BBC Four film, which will be screened later this year.

We'll Take Manhattan will explore Shrimpton's relationship with British photographer David Bailey.

"I am so excited to be playing somebody who had such a lasting impact on the fashion world," Gillan said.

Bailey and Shrimpton helped shape the Swinging London era of the 1960s.
