The Return of Lost
But do you remember what was going on before the show went its seemingly interminable hiatus? Neither do we! That's why you've gotta read through the This is Pop Culture! "Lost" Season 3 Episode Guide to refresh yourself on all the happenings and clues.
Plus you can read these slightly spoilerish teasers for tonight's episode and the one after that.
ABC is hosting its own "Lost" Survivors Guide tomorrow night before the new ep airs:
Hosts Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, the executive producers of LOST, will provide an insightful glimpse into the lives of some of the survivors of the doomed Oceanic Airlines flight 815.
And there's a sneak peek at the episode here.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Omnibus Volume 1 due in July
Details:
The definitive comics collection of all things Buffy starts here. This first massive volume begins at the beginning-The Origin, a faithful adaptation of creator Joss Whedon’s original screenplay for the film that started it all. The newly chosen Slayer’s road to Sunnydale continues in Viva Las Buffy and Slayer, Interrupted. Next, Sunnydale, the Scoobies, and an English librarian lead the way into Season One continuity. Plus, The Goon creator Eric Powell provides pencils to "All’s Fair," featuring Spike and Drusilla at the 1933 World’s Fair.
The smash TV hit Buffy the Vampire Slayer led to nearly a decade of comics at Dark Horse-including multiple specials, one-shots, and guest miniseries. This omnibus series is the ultimate compilation of the Buffy comics Dark Horse has published, and runs along the TV series’ timeline. A fitting companion to Whedon’s comics-based relaunch of the show.
Includes:
Features: 15 Desktops, 7 Ecomics, 2 Games.
The book is available for pre-order now for $16.47 from Amazon.

Drag: Joss Whedon says he's now off the Wonder Woman film.
I had a take on the film that, well, nobody liked. Hey, not that complicated.
Let me stress first that everybody at the studio and Silver Pictures were cool and professional. We just saw different movies, and at the price range this kind of movie hangs in, that's never gonna work. Non-sympatico. It happens all the time. I don't think any of us expected it to this time, but it did. Everybody knows how long I was taking, what a struggle that script was, and though I felt good about what I was coming up with, it was never gonna be a simple slam-dunk. I like to think it rolled around the rim a little bit, but others may have differing views.

Joe Hunter, pianist on a zillion Motown hits, has died.
Hunter's piano work was an integral part of such songs as Martha and the Vandellas' "Heat Wave" and "Come and Get These Memories," and Marvin Gaye's "Pride and Joy." After Motown left Detroit in 1972, like many musicians, Hunter took what gigs he could find.

Joss Whedon talks to MTV about his upcoming "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" comic, which picks up where the series ended.
"The show was very mundane, deliberately mundane," Whedon said. "A comic has got to work on a grander, epic scale. We can really take the characters wherever we want, and of course, that means I can kill them. That's where the fun is, in revisiting these characters. It's like being with my old friends, but in actuality, not being with my old friends, because the actors aren't there to play them. It's a little different. This is bigger variations. It's a symphony based on the little tune we played."
The comic hits stand March 7.
---------------------
Speaking of Joss: Despite Whedon working on a script to an upcoming Wonder Woman film he's set to direct, Warner Brothers is acquiring a spec script by newcomers Matthew Jennison and Brent Strickland.
Sources told the Hollywood Reporter that the purchase is a pre-emptive measure intended to keep the script off the market and to protect itself against any legal action prompted by similarities between the two scripts. The Jennison-Strickland script is reportedly set against the backdrop of World War II, while Whedon's script is set in the present day.

Mezco Toyz has a line of Underdog figures coming out to tie in with the CGI flick based on the character coming this summer.

From Variety: Carl Reiner remembers his work on "The Dick Van Dyke Show."
Daily Variety: So it was because of the censors that they were in twin beds?
Reiner: Absolutely. I fought and I said, "Dick sleeps in a queen-sized bed." They said, "No, no, what would it suggest?" I said, "Where did the kid come from? Did they jump from the next bed to do it?"

Captain Canuck is back! I remember picking up the first CC comic way, way back in 1975. It's in a box someplace and hard to find, but I remember it as being pretty cool, with quite vivid coloring for the times. An interesting change of pace from the DC and Marvel titles I was reading like mad at the time.

McFarlane Toys will produce an action figure line based on the "Grinch Who Stole Christmas" 'toon, IVC2 reports.
McFarlane Toys is planning a range of three- and six-inch scale action figures based on key scenes from the film, including Two Sizes Too Small (the Grinch standing with hands on hips), You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch (the Grinch stealing the children's stockings from the mantle of a Whoville fireplace), All I Need is a Reindeer (the Grinch placing antlers on his dog), Cindy Lou Who (everybody's favorite Who), and Mount Crumpet Box Set (the Grinch and Max with overburdened sleigh). The figures will include play action features and are scheduled to be in stores in October.

Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band - Wrestle Poodles and Win!
For those who don't know: The Bonzos may be most famous for their guest stint in the Beatles' "Magical Mystery Tour" film, performing their tune "Death Cab for Cutie" during the strip club scene.
Member Neil Innes later went to work with Monty Python and, with Python Eric Idle, created the Rutles. Neil played Ron Nasty in the Rutles film and is responsible for the Rutles recorded output, too.
The group's other best known member, Vivian Stanshall, was a genius/bon vivant and pal of the Who's Keith Moon who acted as narrator on Mike Oldfield's zillion-selling Tubular Bells album. Stanshall died in a house fire in 1995.
You can pre-order it now from Amazon for $23.99.

Ho hum. DC Comics stages another "big event" and kills off characters.
-----------------
Variety has a little more info on the status of "Veronica Mars" on the CW:
"Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll" bows March 6, and will air at 9 p.m. Tuesdays for eight weeks in place of "Veronica Mars" repeats. Music competition skein could benefit from airing in the hour after "American Idol" on Fox.
When "Veronica Mars" returns in April for its final five episodes this season, there will not be a continuing mystery storyline. Looking to try something different -- and in a bid to attract new viewers -- each episode will feature self-contained mysteries.
If they're well-received and ratings increase, "Veronica" could be back for a fifth season.
Last week's episode, the first after a long hiatus, wasn't bad, with some nice snappy dialogue. Still, the series isn't quit the gem it was during seasons 1 and 2. The transition to college has been tough, as has been the shift to a new network. No doubt, the show's always uncertain future has made the creators a bit insecure. It's hard to do good work when you're worrying when/if the axe will fall. A definitive commitment to a full season from the CW would've been nice.
--------------------
Hey: Who did the cover art for this upcoming edition of Edgar Rice Burroughs' "A Princess of Mars" from Penguin Classics? Looks a bit like Gil Kane to me.
UPDATE: Waffyjon informs me the work is by the late Dave Cockrum! And, yeah, it certainly looks like his work. I should've known.
