Tom Tyler: Into the Dark Continent movie poster

Pop links: Del Torro on the Hobbit film; Boom Studio's new Toy Story comic

Director Guillermo del Toro updates the BBC on his progress filming Tokien's "The Hobbit."

The intensity of the scenes of the Hobbit will have the intensity they had in the book when I was a kid reading them.

The spiders of Mirkwood are a pretty harrowing experience and facing the great goblin in the caves is quite a thrilling moment. The Battle of the Five Armies, the first encounter with Gollum - there are scary moments in the book.

But they are already there. We are not inventing or trying to do horror for horror's sake we are trying to imbue those moments of intensity in the book into the movie.

Newsarama previews the first issue of a new Toy Story comic from Boom Studios, which is doing some great titles for kids.

R&B great Koko Taylor has passed away. Here she is singing her signature tune "Wang Dang Doodle" with bluesman Little Walter.

Actor David Carradine ("Kung Fu," "Kill Bill") has been found dead.

A news report said he was found hanged in his hotel room in Bangkok and was believed to have committed suicide.

A spokesman for the U.S. embassy, Michael Turner, confirmed the death of the 72-year-old actor. He said Carradine died either late Wednesday or early Thursday, but he could not provide further details out of consideration for his family.

She may be alive, she may be dead, but Claire is coming back to "Lost" next season.

Team Darlton confirms. "Damon and I are very excited to bring Claire back to the show," says Carlton Cuse, "and even more excited for people to experience just how she will return."

He finds out what they've been up to since their brief appearance at London's Live Earth concert in July 2007 where they performed their song, Warmer Than Hell.
